The State Construction Standards of Ukraine "Inclusiveness of Buildings and Structures" B. 2.2.40-2018, which came into force in April 2019, provide for regulatory requirements to ensure the accessibility of institutions, organisations and enterprises, regardless of whether they employ people with disabilities or not: areas and elements of buildings and territories must be identified by an international accessibility symbol.
In particular, accessible parking spaces for vehicles of people with disabilities are important.
At least 10 per cent of the spaces (but not less than one space) in open individual car parks near service facilities should be allocated for vehicles of persons with disabilities. These spaces should be marked with road signs and horizontal markings in accordance with the Traffic Rules with icons of the international symbol of accessibility.
Parking spaces for personal vehicles of persons with disabilities or vehicles transporting persons with disabilities are recommended to be located near the entrance to buildings and structures, but not further than 50 m. The width of the area for parking a car of a person with a disability should be at least 3.5 m.
