Tactile atlases and maps
Atlases and maps for the blind are produced in accordance with GOST and include special tactile images in relief and graphic form and duplicated in relief and dot Braille. Tactile atlases and maps provide information for visually impaired people about cultural and historical objects and "describe" historical information in flat-print font.
Atlases and maps for the blind have a number of differences from other printed publications. Namely:
- Tactile image;
- Full colour printing. They use bright colours for better perception by visually impaired people;
- Tiflomark. Often, maps for the blind are equipped with audio playback, which provides information for all categories of the population, including young children;
- Braille. Inscriptions and signatures are made in embossed dot font and allow visually impaired people to get the information they need through tactile sensations.
It is easy to buy an atlas or map in Braille - just call and order, because maps in Braille facilitate the process of perception and are intended for everyday use in educational institutions using inclusive education systems.
For people with visual impairments, Braille is a lifesaver, making life more comfortable and convenient. With the help of their "native" language, visually impaired and blind people can read books, magazines, draw, etc.
Among the printed publications for people with limited mobility, it is necessary to highlight atlases and maps in Braille. The "Resource Centre "Barrier-Free Ukraine" develops and manufactures this type of typhlomaterials and provides an opportunity to purchase them at affordable prices and of high quality.
