Description

Tactile warning tiles (indicator tiles) – with cone-shaped bumps arranged in a linear pattern. It is a surface design that aims to draw attention to a hazard or warn of a decision point. A warning surface is used in such places as: pedestrian crossings, station and stop platforms, stairs, escalators, lifts.

Visually impaired people can walk on a tactile surface or remain in contact with a cane, safely reaching along the road to their destination. Although the reliefs on the surface of tactile tiles are a few millimetres, they are very easy to perceive.

Advantages of overhead polyurethane tactile tiles:

  • Type of use: for exterior installation outdoors and for interior installation indoors
  • Resistant to abrasion
  • UV resistant
  • Non-slip surface of the tactile tiles
  • Easy to perceive tactile reliefs on 5 mm high surfaces

Installation instructions

One of the advantages of polyurethane tactile tiles is that they are easy to install without having to dismantle the flooring. The polyurethane tactile tiles are glued to a previously prepared existing surface – cleaned and degreased. Tiles, glue and adhesive tape are required for installation. Step-by-step instructions, following which you will ensure long-lasting fixation of polyurethane tactile tiles on any type of surface:

Pre-lay the polyurethane tactile tile in the areas where it will be used in the future. Around it, around its perimeter, stick a masking tape that should not be on top of the tile, but should adhere tightly to its edges. This is necessary to quickly remove any excess adhesive from the edges of the tile, which may later come out during installation.

Remove the polyurethane tactile tile and remove dust and dirt from the installation area of the tactile tile, degrease the surface! The temperature of the surface on which the polyurethane tactile tile is glued should be at least +10℃

Mix the two components by stirring them together for 3 minutes until a homogeneous mass is obtained. The resulting two-component adhesive must be used within 60-70 minutes, which depends on the temperature of the air and coating, and on the humidity. When the temperature and humidity decreases, the curing time will increase. Use a toothed spatula to spread the adhesive onto the coating. While the adhesive is still curing, place the polyurethane tactile tile on it.

Smooth the tile from the centre to the edge and press down firmly. After half an hour, we recommend repeating this procedure, paying particular attention to the edges and corners of the tactile tiles.

30-60 minutes after fixing the tiles, remove the masking tape from the perimeter. Remove any adhesive residue from the tile joints with a trowel, making sure the adhesive does not come into contact with the surface of the tactile tile.

Full adhesion occurs within 24 hours. We recommend not using the glued tactile tiles for up to 3 hours after installation.
